Princess Attire On Thanksgiving

With the holidays approaching it got me thinking - do you dress your little princesses up for Thanksgiving?

I know a lot of you out there dress your daughter's up for Christmas but is Turkey Day the same? I come from a huge family where we have incredibly huge Thanksgiving Day Brunches but quite honestly I've never noticed how everyone is dressed.

Im thinking mainly comfort for my little angel but then again she will only be 7 months... But at the same time she will be doing outfit changes galore on Christmas :)

By the way - Make sure to checkout my Thanksgiving free tutu giveaway on my facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/Adalynsboutique

So let me know. Do you and yours get all glitzy for Turkey Day?

What Is It About Vintage Clothing

What Is It About Vintage Clothing?

I absolutely adore the vintage look, the clothing, the old suitcases, cars, trucks... I love it all. I think one fascination with vintage clothing is chances are, no one else will have the same item. It also seems like merchandise was just made better in the past too. There are many different vintage eras too. Makes me laugh to think some consider 80's and 90's clothing vintage... boy, where have the years gone.

The most notable years for me started in the 1920's. Fashion designers responded by dropping waists to high hip levels and instead of fitted dresses, they started to become loosely hung. The trend definitely went towards being more simple. The in look was to just gather some of the fabric and pin it to the side. This decade is also when you started seeing ankles peek out of dresses. The 20's was also popular for the flapper era.

Through the 30's the waist line came back but by no means was it accentuated. Hemlines hung around mid calf and puffy sleeves was in. Floral was a very popular print.

The 40's were all about tailoring. The ruffles and shirs were gone and replaced by gathering of fabric. Sleeves started to become more slim fitting and skirts flared out and the hemline rose to right around knee level.

The 50's embraced a whole new style. The slim fitting waist and poufy skirts were still in and fancier then ever but the pencil skirts also became very popular. This decade also saw a lot of silhouette enhancers like the waist cinchers, bullet bras, and girdles. The full curvaceous look was definitely in and so was the hourglass figure.

Jackie Kennedy had a huge part in the 60's fashion statement era. She made the French couture style known in the U.S. With Jackie, Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy all as fashion icons, this helped inspire women to try new styles. Big hair, bold colors and shapes were in. High necklines were popular and sleeves remained short or to about elbow length.

The 70's, which is my favorite clothing era, became known as the hippie era or bohemian era. The mini skirt became popular. Psychedelic print was also very popular.

Wikipedia's Definition:
Generally speaking, clothing which was produced before the 1920s is referred to as antique clothing and clothing from the 1920s to 20 years before the present day is considered vintage.[citation needed] Retro, short for retrospective, or "vintage style" usually refers to clothing that imitates the style of a previous era. Reproduction, or repro, clothing is a newly-made, copy of an older garment. Clothing produced more recently is usually called modern or contemporary fashion. Opinions vary on these definitions.

Addy and I Off To Disneyworld... Soon :)

Princess Adalyn and I are going to be making the journey soon to Florida Aka The Sunshine State. This will be a huge change from fast paced California and a huge journey in itself making this journey completely across one side of the U.S. to another. This will be a huge change for me, not going to lie... I'm slightly terrified but at the same time there is nothing more important to me then having Addy grow up around the same huge loving family that I was brought up in.

I am overjoyed over a few things as well. 1. I already stated, being next to family 2. Opening up Princess Adalyn's Boutique in Florida (as well as keeping the online store) But I'm most excited for 3. Adalyn growing up 30 minutes from Disneyworld and tons of other theme parks. I cant wait to get us season passes. What better way to treat your little angel like a Princess, then to dress her up as one and take her to the castle of all castles...well at least here in the U.S. :)

Well now to the point of this blog. What do little girls wear to Disneyworld? This post is not about Princesses but more so Minnie And Mickey. With Princess Adalyn's Boutique being so close to the Best Place On Earth, it would be a crime not to carry Minnie and Mickey apparel.

Minnie Bloomers

For Your Babies, I found these adorable Minnie Bloomers. These would go perfect under a Pettidress or skirt... Or even topped off with a tank top on those extremely hot humid days that Florida is famous for having. The Minnie Mouse Onesie is also an adorable, comfortable, easy choice too.

Minnie Mouse Onesie Set

For the Princess toddlers and older girls, I think the Minnie Mouse pettiskirt, tank tops and the Minnie Mouse dress are all fantastic choices. There is no better way to show your love for Disney then by being part of the most magical place on earth in your Minnie attire. <3
